[Hymn #26] [Movement]

[Tear is on break at the cafe. She's out back practicing strikes and blocks with a broom since the manager is making her leave her weapons at home these days (they scare off the costumers, he says). Some of her hair is falling out of her ponytail at this point, and she'll doubtless have to fix it before the manager allows her to go back to waiting tables.

Fighting air isn't quite the same as sparring with Legretta, but at least she can relearn the motions, and at least the movement interrupts her thinking about what Van might be doing back in her own world.]

(I wonder how I can get back. Are hunting down suspicious objects and being present when the island does something strange going to be enough?)

[Swing.]

(Van. What are you up to? Who else have you dragged into this?)

[Swing.]

(I don't understand. Is this "Score" really such a terrible thing? What is it exactly and why do you hate it so much?)

[Swing.]

(I'm so sure there are people around me suffering right now. Rena seemed sad... I need to do something.)

[Swings harder. The motions yanks at the muscles in her arms and forces her to stop.]

Oh, excuse me! Is this not the correct entrance to the cafe?

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Turns, brushing the loose strands of hair out of her face.]

Well, normally customers enter through the front entrance.

[Duty calls.]

Nevertheless. Can I help you with anything?

[identity profile] hungryprincess.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn't say. I scarcely know what I want, let alone what you can provide.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
If you'll give me a moment, I can find you a table and a menu. This is a cafe, so we specialize in pastries and sandwiches, but we serve other items as well.

[Studies her for a moment.]

Are you feeling all right? You look rather pale.
Perhaps it's the sun...

[identity profile] hungryprincess.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose I do. How strange; I feel perfectly well.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
((OOC: Does she display any ghost-like characteristics...? Like being see-through or anything like that? I just remember reading she was a "ghost princess" the other night, so I'm winging it.))

[Tear inclines her head.]

Still, I'd prefer not to take any chances...

[Tear leans the broom against the side of the building and opens the back door, taking a step to the side and gesturing for Yuyuko to go on ahead.]

If you do happen to start feeling lightheaded, I know a few basic healing artes and should be of some assistance.

That's odd. Why do I suddenly feel on edge?

[identity profile] hungryprincess.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
[[OOC: Yuyuko's only obvious ghost traits are pale skin and being cold to the touch.]]

If I become lightheaded in the future, I'll be sure to take you up on that offter. May I have your name?

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
[[OOC: Okay, thanks. =D I'm going to assume that Tear won't figure it out right away unless she happens to touch her and put two and two together. She's never actually seen a ghost anyway, so she wouldn't necessarily recognize a ghost if said ghost didn't say she was a ghost.]]

Very well. I assure you it won't be a problem.

[She heads inside, stopping briefly to adjust her headband.]

...Oh, of course, I apologize for not introducing myself sooner.
I'm Tear Grants.

[Well, she's assuming (correctly) that's her full name at this point, since her brother goes by "Van Grants".]

[identity profile] hungryprincess.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
How nice to have both names at your disposal! I only have one, Yuyuko.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
It's a pleasure.

[Tear scoots out a chair and motions that Yuyuko can be seated if she so wishes.]

Actually, I'm only certain of my first name. Since my brother goes by "Van Grants", I'm just assuming that my family name is the same.

Did you just arrive in Memento Eden? It's typical for people to only be able to recall their names at first.

[identity profile] hungryprincess.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Yuyuko is seated. She picks up a menu and scans it idly.]

Yes, just in the past few days. It's a most peculiar situation.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, you're right.
It'll only get more peculiar the longer you stay here.

Memento Eden has a rather twisted sense of humor.

[identity profile] hungryprincess.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't aware that an island could possess such a thing.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
It's not the island necessarily. What I mean is there are forces at work, and those forces enjoy causing strange things to happen in this place, things that wouldn't occur naturally.

[identity profile] hungryprincess.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
That description could cover a wide variety of activities.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You're correct...

[Tear sighs.]

Suffice it to say a wide variety of activities occur on this island, ranging from week-long severe cold spells to trees that continue blooming well past their season to three weeks of the residents becoming either older or younger than they usually are.

Not to mention the entire amnesia ordeal and the regaining of memories bit by bit.

[identity profile] hungryprincess.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
At the least, it sounds like not every such occurance is a bad thing.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
This is true. Not all of them are bad, and sometimes people are able to remember things after one of these occurrences.
