[Hymn #68] ~Staccato~

[Private; hackable to friends.]

((OOC: Response to this lovely conversation. I-I'm sorry! XD))

What a truly detestable person.
It's my job to assist civillians, regardless of how unpleasant they may seem, and yet I've never run into one before that was so... entirely unmanageable. It's as if he behaves that way on purpose. Why would anyone?

Perhaps I need more training.

... [Sigh]

No, I definitely need more training.

[Public.]

April 1.
We never did determine what happened; it leaves me to wonder if it will be the same this time.

Easter's approaching quickly as well. Come to think of it, would anyone mind accompanying me on a shopping trip? Mr. Shinigami showed me an Easter tradition during my first half-year on the island and I'd... like to repeat the procedure if at all possible.

((OOC: The tradition was painting Easter eggs just as an FYI.))

Someone bothering you, Tear?

I dunno what Easter is... what's this tradition you learned about? Is it fun?

[Filtered]

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Not particularly...

I was trying to assist one of the newer arrivals, but he was set on being difficult. I don't believe that he took me seriously at all. A skeptical attitude towards this place and a disrespectful attitude towards others can only mean trouble; he'll discover that soon enough, I suppose.

Ah, well it's actually quite a simple activity. Apparently in some cultures people will paint eggs for this holiday - that is after you hard boil them so that the shells won't crack.

I see. Showing up here can be kinda jarring... he'll adapt in time. We all do after a while...

Painting eggs, huh? That sounds kinda fun... something kids would enjoy, at any rate. I'll lend a hand if you still need it!

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I certainly hope he adjusts rapidly...

[Aww, Nall. D: You just had to go and call it "fun for kids". Tear thought they were cute, now she's just kind of embarrassed.]

...ah, yes. I suppose it would. I'm not planning to do a great deal of shopping, I was just concerned that the eggs might break if I tried carrying too many cartons of them at once. It seemed like more hands would save unneccesary trips back and forth.

[identity profile] catslooklikeme.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Did you catch his name? Maybe he just needs some more friends.

[Oh, don't worry, Tear, you'll feel plenty dignified as Nall sits there beaming as he draws smiley faces and whatnot on eggs later... or when someone splashes him with the egg dye and turns his hair pink or purple! >:D]

OK, I can see where you might be concerned there! I'll lend a hand with the carrying! We didn't do anything like this on Lunar! There are some pretty nifty holidays in other worlds, aren't there?

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
...his name was Nathan. I wish I could believe that it's as you say, but I have certain doubts...

[:D ♥~]

We didn't celebrate anything of this nature on Auldrant either. I could never say that the customs of other worlds are uninteresting, though occasionally they don't follow any logic at all...

I'd appreciate it.

[identity profile] catslooklikeme.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Nathan. Got it. Well, let's just both hope for the best for now!

[ooc: Pink or purple flying cat... yes, this makes me smile. This must happen. >:D]

Well, Christmas was fun! And we didn't have anything like that back home. I... didn't really get the point of the whole green thing that happened a week ago, but it was pretty harmless.

No problem, glad to help!

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, you're right. We can always hope.

((OOC: Sure, I support it. Tear might even do the unthinkable: laugh.))

It was. I'd never experienced Christmas before, but the overall atmosphere was very pleasant. I think it reminded me of a few things I'd taken for granted up until then.

The "green day" didn't make a great deal of sense to me either, but I didn't hear of anything else occupying, so I assume there were no negative effects, as you said.

When would be a good time for you? I'm in no particular hurry, although I do have training sessions to attend in the evenings.

((OOC: Tear laughing = WIN. C'mon, she'd get a chuckle out of seeing Nall turn himself pink and looked like this (http://s377.photobucket.com/albums/oo213/deathly_origami/?action=view&current=EBC1639-1.jpg) for a day, right? 'Cause I can't stop giggling...))

It was fun having an excuse to get presents for people and getting stuff! I still haven't really gotten very good with the chess set I got, but I'll figure it all out eventually!

I'm free whenever you need! I have nothing planned!

((OOC: It *IS* win because it rarely happens. And that is adorable. I just looked up Lunar and found that clip actually. *hasneverplayeditsoyeah*))

You're right, it was. Although... thinking of presents for everyone was a bit difficult. I've never given or received so many of them before. A chess set, huh? I'm familiar with the game, if you need any help.

I'm not doing anything at the moment, assuming now isn't too soon.

((OOC: Hee hee, I'm going to have to make some icons for this. Lunar is an older game, so it can't be helped, but if you have a PSP, the game Nall originally debuts in was just released in a new, updated, shiny package *_*))

You know chess, Tear? I guess I shouldn't be surprised! I'd appreciate some help whenever you've got some free time!

Now works just fine! I'm anxious to try this tradition out!

[Imagine a slight smile if you wish.] Sure. I know how to play, but I'm not an expert by any means.

In that case, why don't we meet at the front door of the apartment building? We can head out from there.

Lunar games are usually packed with extras. When I got the first game on the PSX, I got a boxing nun toy fashioned after the game's villain!))

Alright, I'll see you there!

[identity profile] apurposetolive.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
What kind of tradition are we talking about here?

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
... [Awkward.]

Painting eggs.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.

...well, naturally you have to boil them first so they'll harden, but that's the basic principle.

I think it had something to do with a rabbit. The whole holiday and its traditions, from what I've heard about them, sound rather convoluted. I'm not sure my sources had their facts straight, either.

[identity profile] apurposetolive.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
...What do colored eggs have to do with rabbits?

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I don't know.

I'd prefer not quoting people on subjects I don't completely understand myself.

Perhaps they're both symbols.

[identity profile] apurposetolive.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe. Still seems weird, though.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, think of it this way: How many things do cheagles and tuning forks have in common?

And yet they are both important symbols to the Order of Lorelei.

...I've heard weirder.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
...there is one other story I've heard about in regards to Easter.

Supposedly there was a god who sent his son to live among and teach humans in an attempt to lead them to salvation.

But the people doubted his identity despite the many miracles he performed and they later betrayed him. In the end, the son was falsely accused and slain on a cross in order to save the world from its sins.

The story goes on to suggest that he overcame death by rising three days later and ascending to heaven to be with his father.

[identity profile] apurposetolive.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
...

[Luke has been struck speechless. He can't possibly think of something appropriate to say in response to that.]

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
...

[Searches for a change of topic.]

So... about your training.

[/Fail.]

How much control would you say you have over your hyperresonance at this point? Have you ever tried erasing shapes or symbols out of a solid object before?

[identity profile] apurposetolive.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
...Huh? Oh, uh. Not like that. I have erased parts of stuff before, though.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
...If I marked a circle in the ground, do you think you'd be able to trace it?

[identity profile] apurposetolive.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think I probably can.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Already knows he can. With enough practice.]

Good. ...I think you should probably try it.

It would most likely be best to start with exercises, though. If you can learn to open your fon slots slowly, one at a time, I think you'd find that you can control them and moderate your power more easily.

Be sure to eat something before you show up for training. You'll need the extra energy.

[IDK who died and made her boss.]

[identity profile] apurposetolive.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Um... Right. I'll do that.

[Well, Luke is going to roll with it for now. She's the soldier, after all.]

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Good. I'll see you later.

If you happen to think of any relevant questions between now and then, I'll try to answer them after the training session is over.

((OOC: Feel free to assume Tear has agreed to training Luke now and in the future, either regularly or sporadically; whichever you think is most appropriate.))

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a holiday celebrated on another world. Most of the events that occur on the island are timed to holidays I'd never heard of before.

I thought I'd mention them just in case something peculiar happens.

[identity profile] guts-noglory.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. What's it all about?

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I have heard various and unrelated stories about it...

One involved rabbits and colored eggs, while a more serious account claims that a god sent his son to live among mortals and save humanity from its transgressions.

[identity profile] guts-noglory.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
...sounds kinda weird. Somehow I don't think that's from wherever I'm from. If it is, maybe I'm glad I ended up here.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You're the second person to have said that.

Frankly, I find that the truth is often stranger than anything we could make up on our own.

But I do agree; I'd never heard of anything like it before either.

[identity profile] guts-noglory.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Not your world either, huh?

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
No. We don't really celebrate a great number of holidays on Auldrant. There's the coming of age ceremony when a person turns twenty, and annual birthdays and Score readings. Other than that, there are anniversaries, but nothing particularly mundane such as, for example, the day when all the textiles on the island turned green.

[identity profile] guts-noglory.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that one was...weird.

[identity profile] notaluchador.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, are you talking about the Easter bunny? That's a fun tradition. I always liked the chocolate bunnies they sold in stores.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The Easter bunny? That may be correct.I can't say that I'm overly familiar with it, however.

Chocolate... bunnies? They must be a delicacy in your world.

((OOC: Yes, she's imagining an actual rabbit dipped in chocolate. Literal.))

[identity profile] notaluchador.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not surprised. It's really an Earth tradition - and American to boot. My family's Easter was a lot more solemn.

But they're amazing. Milagro and I used to always bet on who'd eat our ears first.

[identity profile] a-severed-fate.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Earth is a planet, correct? So then I'm assuming America is a country of some sort.

By more solemn, do you mean perhaps the beliefs relating to a god and his son?

[Feels a little... um.] Oh, the poor-- ah, that is, yes, I see. That's certainly a unique tradition, although I suppose it isn't far removed from a fancy rappig dish.
Edited 2010-03-28 19:26 (UTC)

[identity profile] notaluchador.livejournal.com 2010-03-30 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! Japan's another country on Earth, and that's where most people here come from.

Easter's actually the celebration of Jesus's death and resurrection, so you're right again. It's a very solemn holiday in Mexico, where my parents are from, but America makes it more light-hearted.

Huh? How're chocolate in bunny molds a unique tradition? You've never had chocolate in different shapes?
