Well..it's not totally impossible, but I do agree that it's a little too convenient when you take the holiday's theme into account. One way or another, we'll find out for sure when enough time's passed.

Well, perhaps not. Valentine's Day is supposedly a couple's holiday with an emphasis on romantic love. Marriage is essentially a huge binding public display of those feelings.

True; I didn't consider that. I didn't hear or read much about Valentine's Day being associated with marriage, so I made an unfounded assumption. I really thought we'd be getting something more benign...

Perhaps. Unfortunately it makes things awkward. This was a person I considered a friend, and I was fine with that. This, however... I don't know. It throws a wrench in things.

I did a little research, but not a great deal. We don't celebrate it on Auldrant, so I've never participated in it firsthand. I was only saying that they seem similar - Valentine's Day may be more about dating than marriage, but dating does sometimes lead to marriage. I don't know much about it.
